Import from Overseas

Is it possible for you to bring your pets along to this multi-cultural island?

Yes! It is possible to bring them to Malaysia as long as the criteria are fulfilled. However, do keep in mind that the official authorities have placed restrictions on the entry of certain species.

Bringing Your Pets to Malaysia
Application Procedures:

 Step 1: Fill in the inquiry form

Import permit will be issued by The Department of Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services (MAQIS) within 1-2 days upon submission of complete documents.

 Step 2: Submit all the required documents
  • Health Check Report (must have microchip number & Rabies Vaccination dates)
  • Pet’s Vaccination Certificate (any documents in other languages required translation, and   translation fee is applicable)
  • Address and contact number in Malaysia and exporting country.
  • Passport biodata page of importer
  • Flight ticket, Address and contact number of importer in Malaysia and exporting country
  • Export permit from origin country
  • Kindly bring along all the original documents with you when you enter Malaysia.


     Step 3: Obtain import permit

    The import permit is valid for 30 days from date of issuance.


     Step 4: Pet arrives safely in Malaysia!

    Visit MAQIS counter and present all your original documents for clearance of pets.

    Note:
    1. All applications for pet import and export can ONLY be processed by authorized agents.
    2. List of countries are exempted from quarantine requirements:

  • Australia  
  • Brunei
  • Ireland
  • Japan
  • New Zealand
  • Northern Ireland  
  • Singapore
  • Sweden
  • United Kingdom

    Export from Malaysia

    Is it possible for you to bring your pets along to the new place you are relocating to?

    Yes! You may export your pets by complying to MAQIS requirements. Please make sure you know the requirement of the destination country.

    Application Procedures:

     Step 1: Fill in the inquiry form

    Inquiry Form

     Step 2: Submit all the required documents
  • Passport biodata page of pets owner
  • Flight ticket
  • Address and contact number in Malaysia and importing country
  • Vaccination record
  • Rabies antibody test certificate (Contact Veterinary Clinic for lab test)
  • Import Permit from Importing Country

  •  Step 3: Visit Malaysian State Veterinary Department for health inspection

    Make an appointment with the Malaysian State Veterinary Department in advance for health inspection.

     Step 4: Obtain export permit

    Veterinarian Department will issue export permit after the pet inspection.


     Step 5: Pet arrives safely in the destination country!
